We trotted off at 7.30am under an overcast sky. The second little foot bridge has been washed away. Some nice track clearing has been done - so one can see all the runners coming towards one. Plenty of traffic early in the morning. 4.7km to the T-intersection in 1hr 20mins. A bit misty.
From here, we went up to Mt Tennent. 2.4km in 39mins. At Tongs sheep yard site I realised I'd left my phone/camera in the car, so had to make do with the GPS camera. Running the screen so dull to preserve battery power, I really had no idea what I was snapping. 15mins for morning tea, as yet more walkers and runners arrived.
Next we returned to the T-intersection, 2.4km in 25mins.
Back on the AAWT, we followed it around and down to the N end of Bushfold Flats, then down the fire trail that runs down beside Georges Creek. We called a halt at Blue Gum Creek. This leg 3.1km in 35mins. The sun was out and it started to warm.
We arrived at 10.45am, 15mins before the time I'd estimated to Paul that we'd arrive. So we settled in for a 45min lunch. Trevor and Shawn had a dip, even though I told them water was for drinking, not swimming in.
Left at 11.30am and met Paul and Els around a kilometre up the track.
Back up on the central track of Bushfold Flats, we wandered S, had a quick pause at the rebuilt Bushfold Flats hut, and arrived at the junction with the Mt Tennent fire trail. 2.5km in 35mins.
So the last up. Trevor spied a wedge-tailed eagle sitting in a tree on the side of the fire trail as we puffed up the hill. 2.9km in 40mins.
Just about all down hill from here. Back to the T-intersection, then down the AAWT to the Namadgi Visitors Centre. 5.8km in 1hr 25mins.
So Shaun was correct - a bit more that 20km. That means for next Saturday we only have to do it 2 and a bit times!
Great practise. Thanks Jacqui R, Robert M, Shaun F, Shawn F and Trevor L.
Distance: 25.2km Climb: 900m. Time: 7.30am - 2.30pm (7hrs), with 1hr of breaks.
Grading: L/E; H(13)
